2001 Vasilik Family Photos

2001 was another successful year for Ann�s art business. Several new paintings and prints, art workshops locally and in Florida and a one-woman show of her paintings in an Asheville Gallery kept Ann (and Ken) busy through the year. However, there was time for play and here are some photos of visits with family and friends and our trip to China.

We had the opportunity to meet with a Chinese family.The Great Wall.


We walked about a mile on the Great Wall��downhill.The Terra Cotta Warriors in Xi'an. This is only one of four buildings that cover the "unearthed army".


Most were actually destroyed during early revolutions (see the trench area in the back) and recently restored.These stand 6 to 7 feet tall. Many bodies are the same , but each head is different; about 2,000 years old.

The 3 Gorges Dam project on the Yangtze River. World's largest construction project.This is the upstream face of the Dam; 600 feet high. Height of the River will rise about 550 feet.


The very modern city of Shanghai.A downtown shopping area in the city of Chong Qing. Used to be called Chung Ching. Dress is very contemporary. No more Mao jackets.
